Updated Environmental Product Declaration for HRC Products

The construction industry accounts for a significant share of global CO₂ emissions. As part of the collective effort to reduce the environmental impact of construction, HRC Europe works continuously to document and improve the footprint of its products and production processes.

HRC products are produced locally and energy efficiently. The production of HRC products represents a relatively small part of the total environmental footprint of the finished products, typically 4–12%. At the same time, the products can contribute positively to the overall footprint of a construction project by enabling more efficient reinforcement solutions.

This can include:

• Faster installation
• Shorter construction time
• More efficient project execution

Environmental documentation through EPD

HRC’s low footprint is documented through Environmental Product Declarations, commonly known as EPDs. An EPD is an important tool for environmental documentation and management. It requires a thorough mapping of the environmental impact from the processes involved in production and provides a benchmark for further improvements.

For customers, EPDs also provide valuable input for decision-making, project documentation and environmental accounting. This makes it easier to compare solutions and document the environmental impact of materials used in construction projects.

Updated EPD now available

An EPD is normally valid for five years. Regular updates reflect changes in materials, production processes, rules and guidelines for life cycle assessments.

The latest updated EPD for HRC products has now been published on the ECO Platform Portal.
